Two things happened! I love Studio McGee and needed a doormat (doormat is such not a sexy word but leave it to Studio McGee how to style otherwise!).
I have never thought about layering an outdoor rug until a friend (who is a designer extraordinaire and you can follow her on instagram @Cartlyn4) and she did. And we love it. I loved it so much that I used that for another door space and had to replace this area.
Between the dog and two teens and just a lot of life happening, I wanted something truly durable and attractive. Find your place that you trust for quality and then just have fun with it.

Some tips
- If you are not sure about color, call your place and ask for ideas. Or look online for color and layering ideas, like Studio McGee.
- Can you order/buy a couple of looks and send back/return what you don’t go with? Make sure you know return policy ahead of time.
- And make sure there is enough of a size difference between the doormat and rug under AND measure the size that the rug would go on (make sure you have enough size for rug as the doormat will be smaller).
Do not over think it. Really. Just wipe your feet and go on in. Unless the dog is blocking you. Then you must go around.
